Virginia Back-to-School Tax Holiday
Jul 29, 2013

Virginia's Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Returns Friday,  August 2nd through Sunday, August 4th, 2013.

It is just the end of July and may be a little early to think about school, but early birds can save money this weekend on school supplies and clothing items.

Friday, August 2nd through Sunday, August 4th will be a state "Sales Tax Holiday" in Virginia to help students of all ages save money, as you prepare to return to school or college. During those dates many school supplies and items of clothing can be purchased without having to pay state sales tax.

 What's Exempt?

During this three-day period, purchases of qualifying school supplies selling for $20 or less per item, and purchases of qualifying clothing and footwear selling for $100 or less per item will be exempt from sales tax. There is no limit to the number of items you can purchase and all receive tax exemption as long as they qualify.
